Why Do We Philosophize? – Georgios N. Politis (2026)

The first hybrid event in the “Dasein TALKS” lecture series, featuring George N. Politis, Professor of Social Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), as guest speaker on the topic “Why Do We Philosophize?”, took place on Monday, 26 January 2026. Exactly twenty years after DASEIN LAB opened the doors of its Philosophy Café - which, for ten years, from 2006 to 2016, hosted more than 150 philosophical events with the support and participation of prominent representatives of the worlds of literature and the arts - a group of students and faculty members from the NKUA Master’s Programme in Philosophy is reviving this tradition. Adopting a contemporary perspective, yet always guided by the same vision of placing philosophy at the heart of everyday life, the group is organising a series of philosophical discussions and lectures.
