About us

What is Dasein Talks?

Dasein Talks is an active community of philosophical dialogue. We organize meetings and talks that invite reflection, questions, objections, and a meaningful exchange of ideas and reasoned arguments. In this way, we take part in a conversation that has been unfolding for centuries: bringing ideas into the public sphere, engaging with different voices and perspectives, and seeking to better understand the world and our place within it.

"The most thought-provoking thing in our thought-provoking time is that we are still not thinking."

— Martin Heidegger

A Story Spanning Almost Two Decades

Dasein Talks continues a journey that began in 2006 with the Dasein Philosophy Café and the Dasein Lab. In the years that followed, hundreds of meetings took place, bringing together academics, researchers, writers, and thousands of people with a shared interest in thought, dialogue, and ideas. Twenty years later, we continue with the same conviction that philosophy has a place in the public sphere, now through a new format of discussion that makes use of contemporary technology to broaden participation beyond those who can be physically present.

Institute of Philosophy and Ideas

Dasein Talks is one of the Institute of Philosophy and Ideas’ (IΦI) core initiatives for public dialogue. The Institute is an independent, non-profit organization established to cultivate philosophical thought, strengthen public dialogue, and build bridges between the worlds of ideas, science, and society.

Scientific and Organising Committee

Dasein Talks is supported by the knowledge and commitment of people for whom philosophy is not merely an academic discipline, but a way of life. Each year, a flexible Scientific and Organising Committee curates the programme of events, selects the themes, speakers and discussants, and oversees their organisation and delivery.

For the 2026–2027 period, the Scientific and Organising Committee of Dasein Talks consists of:
